A native New Yorker, Roberta began dancing at the age of four and pursued a dance career. She discovered Pilates in 1984 with her mentor, Carola Trier, a direct disciple of Joseph Pilates. Roberta continued to study with other Pilates disciples including Romana Kryzanowski, Naja Cori and Kathleen Stanford Grant. Since 1999, she has trained members of the NYC Ballet. She opened Rolates Pilates Studio, in February 2005, at the original site where Joseph and Clara Pilates lived and worked. Roberta holds a B.A. in Dance from Hunter College, an M.A. in Exercise Physiology from Teachers College at Columbia University, and is a licensed Massage Therapist spedializing in Reflexology
