THERAPY SERVICES

Philosophy

Trained as a dance/movement therapist, I work from the premise that body and mind are integrally related and that in each of us there is the ability to access our own wisdom through a deep listening to our body and its messages.

We will pay attention to breathing patterns, sensations, and find ways of moving that facilitate your healing and growth process. Movement can be introduced into the session in a variety of ways depending on your need and comfort level in your own body. Sometimes you may not move but instead, use drawing, image making, or EMDR to facilitate your process.

A one hour session usually consists of a 10 minute verbal check-in, 10 minute body warm-up, 25 minute theme development, and 15 minute processing time. This is not fixed and can change depending on your need to talk or move more. Sessions including EMDR work are 1 and 1/4 hours.

Your Responsibilities:

  • I expect you to be committed to your own process of change and growth. You are the driver. I help to steer the cart until you can steer yourself.
  • I expect you to be honest with yourself and with me about behaviors that would directly interfere with your treatment such as alcohol , drug, sexual, or eating abuse.
  • If you need to cancel an appointment please give 24 hours notice. Otherwise I will charge for the missed appointment unless we can reschedule during the same week.

My Responsibilities:

  • To keep you safe from harm.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times unless you have given written consent or you are suicidal, homicidal, or admit to committing harmful acts to a dependent person.
  • To help you attain your goals and be present to witness your growth.
  • To provide you with community resources, refer you to support groups or other health professionals when appropriate.
  • To provide you with a treatment plan and evaluation as to your progress.

Fee for services $75.00 - payable each session
